New wesbite Overcoming Theatre Ready To Boost Acting Development set to “make acting accessible for everyone” thanks to it’s revolutionary new technique which will make it the industry tool., launched at 18:00 on 19/05/14, is a new online tool that enables actors of all levels to gain a vast knowledge that is vital to their professional development, including a forum to connect to the industry as well as a unique way of breaking down acting theory.

The site looks at the four most influential theatre practitioners of the 20th century (Stanislavski, Brecht, Artaud and Grotowski) and Physical Theatre, one of the most popular theatre styles in the industry today. The educational side of the website is unique in two ways: The way the theories are explained through written information in a simple, easy to understand format. The way they are displayed using professional videos that are built up from the theories to show them in their purest form. These together create Overcoming Theatre’s ‘Display and Explain’ technique.

Conor Lowson, one of the founders of Overcoming Theatre explains: “there is nowhere else on the internet that these acting styles can be seen in their purest form, never mind have the techniques broken down and explained in a simple language next to them”.
Daniel Middlewood, the other founder of Overcoming Theatre says: “These techniques and theories should be accessible to anyone at any time in any place, this place is”

Overcoming Theatre was set up by Daniel Middlewood and Conor Lowson in 2012 whilst the pair were still studying their degree in acting. They managed to secure a loan of £25,000 from government backed scheme, Start-up Loans. This funding – the maximum available under the scheme – was awarded to create Overcoming Theatre and its website.
