Finding
Work
How do you find work as an Actor
There isn't one simple answer to this question.
One thing is quite clear though, the people who do the casting need
to know you exist.
One way is to send agents and casting directors
your details. Always make a record, so if one ever replies you'll
know who they are.
To do this you will need the following:-
A Good CV
That means you need a body of work to demonstrate
your talent and experience in the field of acting. If this "body
of work" doesn't exist
then you need to go and get one. That means either going to Drama
College (the conventional route) or joining a good Amateur Company.
Whatever route you go down you need to be able to demonstrate an
ability to act, not only to the person reading your CV but also
to yourself. Confidence and belief in your own talents protects
you against the inevitable knocks you will receive along the way.
If you want to be an actor, ACT. Get yourself on a stage in front
of an audience and practice your craft.
Good Photographs Here
you have to decide on how you want to portray yourself,
black and white or colour, head shot or full body. Take a look at
other actors' pictures, there's plenty on the web. Decide what is
best for you.
How do you want to sell yourself? This doesn't necessarily mean
hiding your true features behind lashings of soft focus! Remember
it does actually need to look like you.
A Covering Letter
Keep it simple, a full biography will not help
your chances.
Just ask politely if your services could be considered for any of
their casting requirements.
Patience
Success in the world of acting can come at any
age, you're never to old or to young, if you stick around long enough
you're chance
will come. If you keep learning and improving you will make it in
the end. At least that's what I tell myself.
Luck
Perhaps the most important thing of all. If anyone
has any ideas on how to make it I'd love to hear from you. All I
believe you can do, is be prepared, so that when lady luck holds
out a helping hand
you're there ready to take a firm hold.
People to contact.
To increase your chances of success you need to
have the most up to date information possible. There are several
ways of getting this information.

Another way is the web,get your CV and photo online. There are plenty
of sites offering this service,we have links to a few on our site.
We also have free classified adverts where we could display a link
for your site.
Although we think the web can be useful we wouldn't rely on it to
find you work. You need to get out there and push yourself, you need
to be proactive.
Remember there are no easy answers or guarantees when it comes to
finding work in this business. Proceed with caution, finding work
can cost a lot in time and effort but aside from photo's, CV and
postage it shouldn't cost a lot financially. If people want money
for a service make sure you understand what they provide and what
you can realistically expect from them and you are happy with that.
Agents and agencies make their money by taking a percentage of the
fee you get for the work they supplied.
The best agent you have is yourself, be creative, persistent and
polite and you stand as good a chance as anyone else.
Don't give up
